One table at a time

Learning the tables in a sensible order makes them far less daunting: 2s, 5s and 10s first, then 3s and 4s, then 6s, 7s, 8s and 9s. Most children find the 7s and 8s hardest — give those an extra week.

Quick daily drills

A 30-problem sheet takes a few minutes once the facts are known. Print a fresh version each day and time it with a visual timer to see the speed improve.

Make it a timed challenge

Put a visual classroom timer on the board and see how many problems students can finish before the time runs out. Print a new version tomorrow and try to beat the score.
