How to play sudoku
Fill in the empty squares so that every row, every column and every box contains each number exactly once — 1 to 4 on a 4 × 4 grid, 1 to 6 on a 6 × 6 grid and 1 to 9 on the classic 9 × 9 grid. No math is needed: it is all about logic.
Tips for beginners
- Look for the almost-full rows. A row, column or box with only one empty square is a free answer.
- Scan one number at a time. Pick a number and look where it can still go in each box.
- Use pencil. Write small possible numbers in the corner of a square and erase them as you go.
