Best for: Grades 5–6

Keep, change, flip

Keep the first fraction, change ÷ to ×, and flip the second fraction: 3/4 ÷ 2/5 = 3/4 × 5/2 = 15/8 = 1 7/8.

Why it works

Dividing by a number is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal — how many 2/5s fit into 3/4?

Make it a timed challenge

Put a visual classroom timer on the board and see how many problems students can finish before the time runs out. Print a new version tomorrow and try to beat the score.
