Area vs. perimeter in one picture

Area counts the square units inside (length × width). Perimeter adds up all four sides (2 × length + 2 × width). Having both on the same rectangle makes the contrast obvious.

Make it easier or harder

Keep sides between 2 and 6 for beginners so they can count squares. Raise the maximum to 15 once they are comfortable with multiplication.

Make it a timed challenge

Put a visual classroom timer on the board and see how many problems students can finish before the time runs out. Print a new version tomorrow and try to beat the score.
