Best for: Grades 8–9

a² + b² = c²

In a right triangle the two shorter sides (legs) squared add up to the longest side (hypotenuse) squared. To find a leg, subtract: a² = c² − b².

Find the hypotenuse first

The hypotenuse is always opposite the right angle and always the longest side. Sheets ask for the hypotenuse most often, with missing legs mixed in.

Bigger triangles

Raise “Largest side” above 30 to use multiples of the triples (like 9, 12, 15) and larger triples.

Make it a timed challenge

Put a visual classroom timer on the board and see how many problems students can finish before the time runs out. Print a new version tomorrow and try to beat the score.
